Covid 19

Engage with the most up-to-date resources relevant to ASTRA’s COVID-19 response, including guidance, reference materials and FAQs for our students and associated communities.

As the pandemic continues to evolve, the Institute remains steadfast in its commitment to keeping students informed, supported and safe, wherever they are. We have consulted with professional, regulatory, and government bodies to ensure that our contingency planning, scenario preparation and communication strategy is appropriately focused and robust. Rest assured that we are regularly reassessing and refining our COVID Safe Plan in line with new understanding of local and international best-practice protocols, and that the health and wellbeing of all is our priority in these unprecedented times.

It is expected that 2022 will see teaching and learning delivered in a variety of formats. These will include in-person on campus as well digitally remote. Further information will be shared with students in due course.

For those planning to visit our campus in person, it is essential that you do not attend if you are feeling unwell or exhibiting any known COVID-19 symptoms – consult the most recent health directives on testing, tracing, isolation and of course treatment if this situation does apply to you at any point, to protect yourself and those around you. When you do visit, be aware that appropriate measures aligned with the most recent version of our COVID Safe Plan will be in place, potentially including but not limited to attendance registration, cleaning measures, physical distancing and hand hygiene. Online study assistance will also be available for those seeking it.

Please take the time to read the latest update below and use the links provided to access additional related information. Don’t forget to regularly check in with family, friends and fellow students during this continued period of uncertainty.

NSW Health - rules for people who are fully vaccinated

New rules are now in place for fully vaccinated people in NSW.

You are fully vaccinated if you have had 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccination or have a valid medical exemption.

You will find the new rules on the NSW Health website here.

If you are not fully vaccinated you should follow the rules outlined here.

Full details on restrictions and exceptions are on the NSW Health website.

What do these new rules mean for ASTRA students and staff at ASTRA - can I return to campus?

With COVID-19 restrictions starting to ease, we are returning to campus in a cautious and phased way.

All courses and assessable tasks, including practical components, will continue online unless advised otherwise.

Staff and students who wish to return to campus to work can do so if they are fully vaccinated and have permission from the Dean or CEO.

Students who are fully vaccinated are also able to return to campus to use campus facilities that are open and to participate in any Faculty organised activities.

Where can I find more information on how COVID-19 currently impacts my work/studies with ASTRA and any measures I need to take?

Coming to campus COVID protocols

Please monitor this section for latest updates relating to protocols for coming to campus. These will be updated regularly in line with the Department of Health guidelines and Service NSW.

Wearing a face mask is recommended to all students. Students are reminded to follow COVID-19 safety precautions and maintain physical distancing of 1.5m where possible.

If you have any cold or flu like symptoms or are unwell, please let the Campus manager know and return home immediately.

There are currently no additional COVID protocols for coming to campus.

Student vaccine requirements

Vaccination is the only control that can mitigate serious illness from COVID -19 infection. We strongly encourage students to get vaccinated and also get the booster as soon as it is reasonably possible.

ASTRA is committed to supporting all students by providing clear information on vaccination and making it as easy as possible for them to access vaccines. Links to information, other services available and to book appointments are available on the myAstra Student Hub.

Our safe campus strategy

We’re taking a range of measures to ensure ASTRA’s campus remains a safe, productive and positive space for all who visit it. For further information, please visit myAstra to access ASTRA’s COVID-19 Campus Safe Plan.
